Privacy
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Nothing here asks you to take that on trust: every claim below is one you can check yourself, in the same spirit as the rest of the site.
1 What is stored on your device
Nothing. No cookies, no local storage, no session storage, no databases, no service workers. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to: the cookie rules govern storing or reading information on your device, and this site does neither.
Your settings — place, date, refraction, lens, the position of the timeline — live in the address bar, after the #. That is part of the link, not something kept on your machine, which is why you can send someone a link and have them see exactly what you were looking at.
To check: press F12, open Application (Chrome) or Storage (Firefox), and look at Cookies, Local Storage, Session Storage and IndexedDB. All empty, however long you use the page.
2 What the host records
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard web server logs: your IP address, the time, which page you asked for, your browser's user-agent string, and the page you arrived from. Any web server anywhere records something of this kind in order to answer a request at all. Those logs belong to Cloudflare and are handled under their privacy policy.
Cloudflare also adds a small analytics script to these pages, loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com, which reports page views and how quickly the page loaded. It uses no cookies and no device storage. It is injected by the host rather than written into the site's code, which is why you will find no trace of it in the source files.
That is the whole of it. No advertising, no third-party trackers, no accounts, no sign-ups, no forms, no email list, and nothing that identifies you personally.
3 Links that leave the site
The header links to GitHub and to a YouTube channel. Following either takes you to a company that has its own policies and its own cookies. Nothing is shared with them unless you click.
4 Getting in touch
Corrections and questions are welcome as issues on GitHub. There is no contact form here, and no address to collect.
Every file this site serves is public at github.com/james-debono/sunset-visualiser. If anything above is wrong, the source will show it.
